FX: ECB-Gold reserves fall, cash in circulation jumps
FRANKFURT, Oct 14 (Reuters) - Gold holdings at euro-zone central banks fell in the week to Oct. 10 while cash in circulation jumped by almost 19 billion euros, European Central Bank figures showed on Tuesday.
The ECB said gold and gold receivables held by euro zone central banks fell by 153 million euros to 220.237 billion euros, reflecting the sale of gold by one central bank and the net sale of gold coin by another.
Net foreign exchange reserves in the Eurosystem of central banks rose by 29.8 billion euros to 279 billion euros, the ECB said in its regular weekly consolidated financial statement.
Banknotes in circulation rose by 18.9 billion euros to 712.1 billion, following a rise of 11.5 billion the previous week.
