STOCKS ----------------------- The 30-share BSE index down 1.67 percent at 10,628.97 points and the 50-share NSE index down 1.66 percent at 3,283.1 points bouncing off early lows tracking gains in the European market and as U.S. stock futures indicated a higher opening in Wall Street. GOVERNMENT BONDS ------------------------------- The 2018 bond yield at 7.70 percent, from previous close of 7.91 percent, after the government and the central bank boosted cash availability in the banking system. RUPEE -------------- The rupee was at 48.75/48.77 per dollar, from the previous close of 48.525/48.540, as offshore-related dollar demand and weaker stocks weighed, but further falls were averted by concerns of central bank intervention. INTEREST RATE SWAPS INROIS ---------------------------- The benchmark five-year interest rate swap at 6.88/6.96 percent. CALL MONEY -------------------- Call money rate at 6.80/7.00 percent, from previous close of 10.00/10.25 percent, after the 100 basis point cut in cash reserve ratio by the central bank late on Wednesday released an additional 400 billion rupees into the system. GOLD <0#MAU:> ------------- The December contract on the Multi Commodity Exchange of India at 13,120 rupees, down 65 rupees from the previous close.
