ET: Gold tumbles by Rs 410 per ten grams on lower New York cues
MUMBAI: Gold prices tumbled by Rs 410 per ten grams to Rs 12,795 at the early session on the bullion market here on Friday on fresh offerings from
stockists triggered by fall in New York.
Silver also declined moderately on the back of lower global advices.
Yellow metal declined to a one-month low in New York on speculation that investors will sell the precious metal to cover losses in other markets. Silver fell to the lowest level since February 2006.
Gold futures for December delivery fell by USD 34.50 per ounce to USD 804.50 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, the biggest percentage decline for a most-active contract since October 2.
Silver futures for December delivery fell by 54.5 cents to USD 9.635 an ounce.
Turning to the local market, standard gold (99.5 purity) fell by Rs 410 per ten grams to resume at Rs 12,795 from the yesterday's closing level of Rs 13,205. Pure gold (99.9 purity) also dropped to Rs 12,885 from Rs 13,260.
