MW: U.S. Energy Dept. posts 3.2 million-barrel crude supply rise

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Crude supplies rose for a fourth week, up 3.2 million barrels for the week ended Oct. 17, the Energy Department said Wednesday. Motor gasoline supplies climbed 2.7 million barrels. Distillate stocks rose for the first time in eight weeks, up 2.2 million barrels. Refinery utilization was at 84.8% compared with 82.2% of capacity a week earlier. Following the news, December crude was down 5.4% at $68.25 a barrel on Globex.
