New York -- Crude oil prices jumped overnight on the New York Mercantile Exchange, climbing $3.06 to $65.79 per barrel.
Prices of other energy commodities also rose following a day of economic validation on Wall Street, where the Dow Jones industrial average soared nearly 900 points Tuesday.
The strong day of trading put new vigor in energy commodities, where prices have fallen for months due to eroding demand.
Heating oil prices also rose Tuesday, up $0.068 cents to $1.98 per gallon.
Reformulated blendstock gasoline rose 0.0573 cents to $1.5128 per gallon.
Natural gas prices rose 0.179 cents to $6.365 per million British thermal units.
At the pump, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.589 Wednesday, down from Tuesday's $2.629 a gallon, AAA said.
