MW: U.S. stocks pull tentatively higher before data

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks on Monday wobbled higher after declines at the start, ahead of an index expected to show a decline in U.S. manufacturing activity in October and as the race for the White House nears the finish line. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 24.93 points to 9,349.94. The S&P 500 climbed 1.91 points to 970.57, while the Nasdaq Composite advanced 2.96 points to 1,723.91.
