AP: Dollar trades lower, gold rises in Europe
 
LONDON – The U.S. dollar was mostly lower against other major currencies in European trading Wednesday. Gold rose.
The euro traded at $1.3018, up from $1.2954 late Tuesday in New York. Later, in afternoon trading in New York Wednesday, the euro fetched $1.3000.

Other dollar rates in Europe, compared with late Tuesday, included 98.84 Japanese yen, down from 99.69; 1.1591 Swiss francs, down from 1.1645; and 1.1579 Canadian dollars, up from 1.1522.
The British pound was quoted at $1.6029, up from $1.5933.

Later in the afternoon in New York, the dollar bought 98.85 yen and 1.1601 francs, while the pound was worth $1.5974.

Gold traded in London at $753.75 per troy ounce up from $741.25 late Tuesday.
