RTRS: US STOCKS-Shares open lower on Cisco warning, bleak sales
NEW YORK, Nov 6 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks opened lower on Thursday as disappointing outlooks from companies including technology bellwether Cisco systems (CSCO.O: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) pointed to a deepening global economic downturn.
The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI fell 16.41 points, or 0.18 percent, at 9,122.86. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX dropped 3.10 points, or 0.33 percent, at 949.67. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC slipped 9.05 points, or 0.54 percent, at 1,672.59.
