The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI was up 94.78 points, or 1.09 percent, at 8,790.57. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX was up 8.94 points, or 0.99 percent, at 913.82. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC was up 20.29 points, or 1.26 percent, at 1,628.99.
