LONDON – The U.S. dollar was mostly up against other major currencies in European trading Tuesday afternoon. Gold fell.
The euro traded at $1.2518, down from $1.2764 late Monday in New York. Later, in afternoon trading in New York, the euro fetched $1.2515.
Other dollar rates in Europe, compared with late Monday, included 97.60 Japanese yen, down from 97.88; 1.1872 Swiss francs, up from 1.1789; and 1.2068 Canadian dollars, up from 1.1934.
The British pound was quoted at $1.5377, down from $1.5602.
Later in New York in the afternoon, the dollar bought 97.50 yen and 1.1874 Swiss francs, while the pound was worth $1.5367.
Gold traded in London at $733.75 per troy ounce, down from $753.00 late Monday.
