MS: Sensex trades sluggish amid volatility
 
The stocks are trading in a lacklustre manner amid volatility on account selling pressure seen in frontliners. Realty, auto, FMCG and metal stocks traded weak.

BSE Midcap and Smallcap index declined 1.05% and 0.84% respectively.

Indian stock market belled the day on a negative note after a fall of 6.61% on the previous working day. The 30-share index, BSE Sensex opened with a loss of 155.94 points, at 9,683.75 on Wednesday.

In the previous day session, the Sensex ended with a loss of 696.47 points, or 6.61%, while the NSE Nifty declined by 209.60 points, or 6.66%.

Currently, the 30-share index Sensex is trading down 113.26 points, or 1.15%, at 9,726.43, after touching a high of 9,891.47 and a low of 9,559.33. Meanwhile the broad based Nifty is trading lower by 26.05 points, or 0.89%, at 2,912.60, after hitting a high of 2,952.70 and a low of 2,855.05. (11.49 a.m.)



Overall market breadth is negative. Out of the total 2,176 stocks traded at BSE, 814 advanced, 1,279 declined while 83 remained unchanged.

Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Tata Consultancy Services (2.07%), Tata Power Company (1.77%), NTPC (1.59%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.43%), Infosys Technologies (1.03%), and Reliance Communications (0.95%).

On the other hand, Tata Motors (5.70%), DLF (5.66%), ICICI Bank (5.24%), Mahindra & Mahindra (4.72%), Hindalco Industries (4.67%), and Sterlite Industries (India) (4.59%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
