SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- December crude climbed 50 cents to $56.66 per barrel Thursday morning on the New York Mercantile Exchange after losing around 10% over the past two sessions. Traders awaited data on U.S. petroleum supplies from the Energy Department. The report is due at 11 a.m. EDT, a day late because of the Veteran's Day holiday. On average, analysts polled by Platts expect the data to show that crude supplies rose 1.1 million barrels for the week ended Nov. 7.
