Platinum market set for 2008 supply deficit: Johnson Matthey
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- The platinum market will likely see a supply deficit of 240,000 ounces in 2008, according to an interim report issued by Johnson Matthey Tuesday. Platinum suplies are expected to fall 4.2% to 6.28 million ounces for the year, with the largest decrease seen in South Africa, it said. Demand is seen at 6.52 million ounces, down 2.3%, but global platinum demand for the production of autocatalysts will grow, it said.
