MW: Oil futures briefly recapture $50 as stock markets rise

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Oil futures traded as high as $50.65 a barrel in electronic action Friday, as the oil market responded to big gains in worldwide stock markets and U.S. stock futures. Oil futures recently were trading up 51 cents to $49.93 a barrel after closing Thursday's session at its worst level since May 2005.
