NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Dollar Tree Inc. ) said Tuesday that third-quarter net income rose to $43.1 million, or 47 cents a share, from $35.9 million, or 38 cents a share, in the same period a year earlier. Sales increased 11.6% in the period to $1.11 billion from $998 million. Analysts polled by FactSet estimated, on average, earnings of 44 cents a share and sales of $1.1 billion. Dollar Tree sees fourth-quarter earnings of $1.07 to $1.15 a share and full-year earnings of $2.45 to $2.53 a share. Analysts are looking for a profit of $1.12 a share for the fourth quarter and $2.46 a share for the full year, according to FactSet.
