NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The U.S. dollar fell against other major currencies Tuesday, erasing its earlier gains after the U.S. Federal Reserve announced two new facilities. "The [Fed] announcement corresponded with a new pressure on the U.S. dollar and a rebound in equity trading," said Marc Chandler, director of currency strategy at Brown Brothers Harriman. The dollar index [s : dxy], a measure of the greenback against a trade-weighted basket of six major currencies, fell 0.8% to 85.43.
