NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude-oil futures fell 3% in late morning trading Tuesday, after slumping 9.4% in the previous session to the lowest in more than three years, as worries continued that a global economic slowdown will cut into energy demand. Crude oil for January delivery was last down $1.48 at $47.80 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
