MW: Gold rises over 1% as U.S. dollar falls vs. rivals

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Gold futures rose over 1% Tuesday, as the U.S. dollar fell against most other major currencies. Gold for February delivery rose $10.30, or 1.3%, to $779.60 an ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange. In the currency markets, the dollar moved lower against most rivals, with the dollar index trading down 0.5% to 85.50.
