LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European shares moved off lows on Thursday, with oil majors posting gains as light sweet crude prices jumped $1.74 a barrel to $45.29. BP shares climbed 2.7% and Total shares also rose 2.7%. The FTSE 100 index rose 0.5% to 4,387.69, the French CAC-40 index climbed 0.1% to 3,323.88 while the German DAX 30 index traded flat.
