MW: U.S. stock index futures retreat as jobless claims rise

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stock index futures fell back into negative territory Thursday after the Labor Department reported initial jobless claims rose 58,000 to a 26-year high of 573,000 last week. S&P 500 futures were 3.20 points lower at 892.60, while Nasdaq 100 futures slipped 1.25 points to 1,215.75. Dow industrial futures fell 96 points to 8,619.
