MW: U.S. stocks turn flat to higher as crude oil rallies
EW YORK (marketWatch) -- U.S. stocks rebounded from early weakness to flirt with positive territory on Thursday, with energy stocks rising as crude oil prices surged another 7% on a weak dollar and expectations of upcoming production cuts. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 2 points at 8,763, with 14 of its 30 components trading higher. The blue chip index earlier fell to a low of 8,617. The S&P 500 index gained 0.7 points, or 0.1%, to 900, while the Nasdaq Composite fell 3 points, or 0.2%, to 1,561.
