TOKYO, Dec 15 (Reuters) - Spot palladium rose to $176.5 an ounce on Monday, up more than 5 percent from New York's notional close of $168.
Spot platinum , another precious metal used to clean auto exhaust fumes as an autocatalyst, rose more than 3 percent to $834 an ounce as of 0040 GMT.
Technical buying emerged after demand worries hit the platinum group metals on Friday after the U.S. Congress failed to pass a bill to save the auto industry. (Reporting by Risa Maeda)
