Markets have gained momentum in the afternoon trades led by the IT, Pharma, capital goods and banking stocks. Among the 30-scrips of Sensex, 22 stocks are in the green and only 8 stocks are in the red. At 12:23 pm (IST), the BSE 30-share Sensex surged 86 points at 9,918 and the NSE Nifty was up 36 points at 3,018. Shares of IVRCL Infra have surged by over 4% to Rs172 after the company announced that it won orders worth Rs7.46bn. The scrip has touched an intra-day high of Rs172 and a low of Rs161 and has recorded volumes of over 13,00,000 shares on NSE. Shares of HCL Tech have rallied by over 11% to Rs116 after the company said that the acquisition was helping HCL Tech bid for orders worth as much as US$1.2bn. The scrip has touched an intra-day high of Rs116.8 and a low of Rs105 and has recorded volumes of over 24,00,000 shares on NSE. Shares of L&T have gained by a percent to Rs830 after the company announced that it won construction orders worth Rs13.7bn from three companies. The company will build Rs5.16bn alumina refinery for Vedanta Aluminium Ltd. and a Rs4.55bn plant for Utkal Alumina International Ltd. in the eastern state of Orissa.
