IND: BSE Sensex surged 86 points at 9,918 and the Nifty was up 36 points at 3,018.
 
Market extended gains to second straight trading session on Tuesday. After starting off the day on a flat note, buying momentum in the index pivotal and a strong start to the equity markets across Europe lifted the BSE benchmark Sensex index above 10,000mark in intra-day trades.

Heavyweights like Reliance industries, ONGC, Tata Motors and HDFC Bank were among the top gainers.

Finally, the BSE benchmark Sensex ended at 9,976 adding 144 points and the NSE Nifty index ended 3,041 adding 60 points.

The oil & gas, Pharma, IT and realty stocks were in demand. While, the metals and select capital goods stocks were under pressure.

Market breath was positive, 1,860 stocks advanced against 654 declines, while, 66 stocks remained unchanged.

Among the 30-components of Sensex, 20 stocks ended in the green and 9 stocks ended in the negative terrain, the big gainers were ONGC (7%), Grasim (6.2%), ACC (5.5%) and HDFC Bank (5.2%).

On the other hand, major losers were Sterlite Industries (7%), HDFC (4.1%), Reliance Infra (2.5%), RCom (2.1%) and DLF (1.3%).

MMTC, Videocon Ind, HCL Tech, Bajaj Hind, NMDC, Neyveli Lignite, HDFC, RCF, OFCC and REI Agro were the other top gainers, rising by 12-20%.

Sterlite Industries (down 7%), Sintex Ind (down 4.5%), Nagarjuna Const (down 4%) and Jain Irrigation ended on the losing side.

Shares of Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines have rallied by over 5% each after the country’s refiner cut jet-fuel price for the second time this month.

IOC announced tat it reduced the price of jet fuel in Mumbai, by Rs4,383 to Rs33,719 per kiloliter.

IVRCL Infra pared gains and slipped by 2% to Rs160. The company’s shares had surged after it won orders worth Rs7.46bn. The scrip touched an intra-day high of Rs172 and a low of Rs158 and recorded volumes of over 10,00,000 shares on BSE.

Shares of HCL Tech rallied by over 17% to Rs122 after the company said that the acquisition was helping HCL Tech bid for orders worth as much as US$1.2bn. The scrip touched an intra-day high of Rs125 and a low of Rs106 and recorded volumes of over 19,00,000 shares on BSE.

Shares of L&T slipped 1.5% to Rs830. The company announced that it won construction orders worth Rs13.7bn from three companies. The company will build Rs5.16bn alumina refinery for Vedanta Aluminium Ltd. and a Rs4.55bn plant for Utkal Alumina International Ltd. in the eastern state of Orissa.

Shares of Advanta India advanced by over 3% to Rs545 after 2% of its equity changed hands in a single transaction.

~340,000 shares of the company were sold at an average price of Rs530 per share on the NSE. The scrip touched an intra-day high of Rs551 and a low of Rs529 and recorded volumes of over 6,00,000 shares on NSE.
