MW: U.S. stock futures point to opening rise; November CPI drops
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stock futures retained early gains on Tuesday after the government said the producer price index fel 1.7% in November and worse-than-expected data pointing to an 18.9% drop in U.S. housing starts in November. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were up 47 points at 8,651. Those for the S&P 500 were up 6.1 points at 878.4, while Nasdaq 100 futures gained 6.25 points to 1,201.25.
