BS: Sensex extends losses; RCom tumbles 13%
 
The Sensex has slipped deeper into red and is now down 262 points at 9,715. Earlier in the day, the index opened 96 points higher at 10,073 following positive cues from the US markets, however, the index soon slipped into red owing to profit-taking.

Satyam has slumped nearly 31% to Rs 157 following the Maytas deal fiasco. Yesterday the company had announced its plans to diversify into infrastructure by approving $1.6 billion investment in Maytas Infra and Maytas Properties. However, today the company called off the deal following negative feedback from the investor community.

Reliance Infrastructure has tumbled 14.5% to Rs 545, and Reliance Communications has plunged 13% to Rs 204.

Jaiprakash Associates has cracked 9% to Rs 80. DLF has crashed 8% to Rs 255, and ACC has shed 7.5% at Rs 495.

Tata Power has dropped over 5% to Rs 709. Sterlite has slipped 4.7% to Rs 273.

Bharti Airtel has declined over 4% to Rs 713. BHEL is down 3.5% at Rs 1,353.

ICICI Bank has rallied over 3% to Rs 435. Infosys has surged over 2% to Rs 1,147.

Grasim, Hindustan Unilever and HDFC Bank have advanced around 1.8% each to Rs 1,251, Rs 253 and Rs 1,001, respectively.

The market breadth has turned negative - out of 2,545 stocks traded so far, 1,449 have declined, 1,021 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
