ENM: Nifty near day’s highs as inflation falls to 6.84%
MUMBAI: Benchmark indices pulled back Thursday as buying emerged in interest sensitive sectors after inflation for week ended December 6 dipped
to 6.84 per cent against 8 per cent a week ago. Market polls had expected it to be around 7.49 per cent.
BSE Metal, oil&gas and realty sectoral indices had pared losses while IT stocks moved higher. BSE Metal Index was down 1.86 per cent, BSE Oil&gas Index fell 1.75 per cent as oil prices fall in international market, BSE Realty Index declined 0.74 per cent on profit booking and BSE IT Index was up 3.64 per cent.
At 12pm, Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex was at 9789.06, up 73.77 points or 0.76 per cent. The 30-share index touched a high of 9813.65 and a low of 9633.04.
National Stock Exchange’s Nifty was at 2974.80, up 20.45 points or 0.69 per cent, after touching an intra-day high of 2980.60 and a low of 2922.65
