ET: Gold, silver recover on firming trend in Asian markets
NEW DELHI: Gold and silver recovered in the bullion market here today on emergence of buying by stockists on the back of firming trend in other
Asian markets.
Silver wiped off all the previous day's losses and ended higher by Rs 100 at Rs 17,200 per kg, while gold recovered by Rs 30 at Rs 13,180 per 10 gram.
Marketmen said buying activity picked up on reports that gold moved up in other Asian markets and dollar ruled steady against the euro.
Reports that crude oil in New York rose for the first time in three days also boosted the appeal of the precious metal as an inflation hedge.
Standard gold and ornaments gained Rs 30 each at Rs 13,180 and Rs 13,030 per 10 gram respectively. Sovereign held unchanged at Rs 10,600 per piece of eight gram.
Silver ready rose by Rs 100 at Rs 17,200 per kg, while silver weekly-based delivery remained weak and fell further by Rs 15 at Rs 17,180 per kg. Silver coins rose by Rs 100 at Rs 26,900 for buying and Rs 27,000 for selling of 100 pieces.
