Oil prices extended gains and rose more than $2 a barrel on Monday after weekend violence flared between Israel and Hamas, reminding traders of the geopolitical risk to crude supplies from the Middle East.
U.S. light, sweet crude advanced $2.04 to $39.75 a barrel by 0037 GMT, while London Brent crude rose $2.13 to $40.50 a barrel.
