The Sensex lost all its firmness and slipped into the negative to bounce back into the positive. Currently, it is trading on a flat note. Select Realty and auto stocks moved up, while oil &gas declined.
BSE Midcap and Smallcap index rose 0.79% and 0.83% respectively.
Indian stock market begun the day on a positive note after a rise of 2.19% on the previous working day. The 30-share index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 91.61 points, at 9,625.13 on Tuesday.
In the previous day session, the Sensex closed with a gain of 204.60 points, or 2.19%, while the NSE Nifty climbed by 64.75 points, or 2.27%.
Currently, the 30-share index Sensex is trading up 7.55 points, or 0.08%, at 9,541.07, after touching a high of 9,651.40 and a low of 9,494.70. Meanwhile the broad based Nifty is trading lower by 9.00 points, or 0.31%, at 2,913.00, after hitting a high of 2,956.00 and a low of 2,899.75. (12.09 p.m.)
Overall market breadth is positive. Out of the total 2,087 stocks traded at BSE, 1,254 advanced, 751 declined while 82 remained unchanged.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Satyam Computer Services (4.62%), Jaiprakash Associates (3.16%), Sterlite Industries (India) (2.87%), Tata Motors (2.69%), ACC (2.14%), and Ranbaxy Laboratories (2.13%).
On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.58%), Grasim Industries (1.61%), Reliance Industries (1.17%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.93%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.68%), and Wipro (0.48%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
