ISE: Australia commodity index dips 1.3 pct in Dec-RBA
The Reserve Bank of Australia's (RBA) index of commodity prices fell in November for the third month in a row, the central bank reported on Friday.
The RBA's index fell by 1.3 percent in special drawing rights terms to 253.7, following a revised 2.9 percent fall in November. The index has fallen 7.1 percent since hitting a record high in September as global commodity prices slid.
In Australian dollar terms, the index fell by 1.0 percent in December, following an increase of 0.2 percent in November.
The largest contributors to the fall in December were decreases in the prices of aluminium, copper, lead and nickel. The price of gold rose.
Australia is a major exporter of commodities and falling prices are likely to curb export incomes in coming months.
