BLBG: Palm Oil Futures in Malaysia Rise as December Exports Increase
Palm oil futures in Kuala Lumpur gained for a fifth day after Malaysian exports advanced last month, probably lowering record stockpiles.
Shipments from Malaysia, the second-largest producer of the vegetable oil, rose 25 percent to 1.65 million metric tons in December, up from 1.33 million tons in the previous month, surveyor Intertek said today.
March-delivery palm oil rose 1.5 percent to 1,720 ringgit ($495) a ton at 11:33 a.m. on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange. The contract rose as much as 1.8 percent earlier.
