MW: GLOBAL MARKETS: European Stocks To Open Higher; UK Banks Eyed
European stock prices are expected to open higher Monday, after gains in Asia and a higher close on Wall Street Friday. CMC Markets predicted the FTSE 100-share index in London will open up 63 points at 4,210, the DAX in Frankfurt up 46 at 4,412, and the CAC-40 in Paris up 44 at 3,061. "Equity markets are set to start the week significantly higher after Friday afternoon's run of buying on Wall Street," said Matt Buckland, a CMC Markets dealer. In early business, attention is likely to center on the U.K. government's announcement of another round of bank bailouts. Early Monday, the government unveiled bank support plans that included an extension of the drawdown window for new debt, a new facility for asset-backed securities and a new Bank of England facility to buy high-quality assets.
