RTRS: Dollar extends gains vs yen as risk appetite recovers
The dollar extended gains to session highs against the yen on Wednesday as U.S. stocks advanced and investor risk appetite continued to improve.
The dollar was last trading at 89.86 yen , its session high and 1.1 percent above late Tuesday's level.
The euro, meanwhile, pared gains against the dollar after a brief push above $1.33 attracted selling interest. It was last changing hands at $1.3222 , up 0.3 percent from late Tuesday.
"It's taken its sweet time but dollar-yen is finally rising now that stocks have opened higher. But it's been a slow grind," said Steven Butler, head of FX trading at Scotia Capital in Toronto. "If we get over 90.20, we could see more buying."
A Forex.com trader in Bedminster, New Jersey added that "a rejection from recent highs and lower CPI has already dented euro strength."
