The 30-share BSE index ended up 2.04 percent at 9,424.24
points and the 50-share NSE index up 1.8 percent at 2,874.80
points, as domestic funds bought into blue chips with earnings
potential such as Reliance Industries.

GOVERNMENT BONDS -------------------------------
The 2018 bond yield at 6.22 percent, from the previous
close of 6.11 percent, after the central bank sold debt worth
$2 billion near the top end and above market expectations.
RUPEE --------------
The rupee at 48.90/92 per dollar, off a day's low of 49.13,
and stronger than Thursday's close of 48.975/985 as stock
market recovered from early lows.
INTEREST RATE SWAPS INROIS

The benchmark five-year interest rate swap at 4.85/97
percent from the previous close of 4.76/82.
CALL MONEY --------------------
Call money rate at 4.00/05 percent, compared with its
previous close of 4.10/20 percent, as most banks have already
secured funds for their reserve needs on the reporting day.

The February contract on the Multi Commodity Exchange of
India at 14,418 rupees, up 272 rupees from the previous close.
