MW: Chicago purchasing managers index lowest since 1982
The economy in the Chicago region continued to worsen in January, with more businesses reporting worsening conditions than at any time in the past 26 years, according to the purchasing managers index released Friday by the NAPM-Chicago. The Chicago PMI fell to 33.3% in January from 35.1% in December. Readings under 50% indicate more firms are seeing worsening conditions compared with the previous month.
