RTRS: European stocks trim gains after U.S. jobs data
European stocks trimmed their gains on Friday afternoon after worse-than-expected U.S. monthly jobs data. At 1334 GMT, the FTSEurofirst 300 .FTEU3 index of top European shares was up 0.6 percent at 815.43 points. The index was up 0.8 percent shortly before the data was released.
U.S. employers slashed 598,000 jobs in January, the deepest cut in payrolls in 34 years as the unemployment rate rose to 7.6 percent, according to a Labor Department report on Friday that underlined a deepening downturn.
