Select base metals, copper and nickel melted down in the national capital today on stockists selling largely on weak trends in global markets after the Japanese economy reported biggest contraction in GDP since 1974 on deepening recession.
Mounting inventories for base metals monitored by London Metal Exchange also put some pressure on the prices in the domestic markets here.
Copper wire scrap, copper super d rod, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap all moved down by Rs 3 each to Rs 216.50, Rs 23850, Rs 24350 and Rs 19650 per kilo respectively. At LME, copper futures fell 2.41 per cent
Nickel plate 4x4 plate also lost Rs 5 to Rs 680-840 per kg after its prices plunged two per cent in London.
