BLBG: Natural Gas Futures Rise in New York on Cold Weather in East
Natural gas futures rose in New York as cold weather spurred demand in the U.S. Northeast.
Natural gas for March delivery rose 5.2 cents, or 1.3 percent, to $4.149 per million British thermal units at 9:06 a.m. on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Prices have dropped 26 percent this year.
The futures declined 10 percent last week as mild weather and slumping consumption from factories limited withdrawals from storage.
