RTRS: Nikkei up 2 percent as China hopes boost machine stocks
Japan's Nikkei average gained 2 percent on Thursday, rising for a second day, as hopes for fresh stimulus steps in China and an economic recovery there boosted machinery stocks such as Komatsu Ltd (6301.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and shipping firms.
The benchmark Nikkei .N225 added 142.53 points to 7,433.49, the first time the average has risen for two straight days since late January.
The broader Topix .TOPX rose 1.3 percent to 741.55.
