The pound plunged to new multi-week lows of 1.3746 against the greenback, 1.6056 against the Swiss franc and 0.9144 against the euro by 9:20 am Eastern Time. Against the Japanese yen, the British currency edged down to a weekly low of 136.08 by this time. Currently, the pound is trading at 1.3776 against the dollar, 1.6075 versus the franc, 0.9136 against the euro and 136.37 against the yen.
