European shares declined on Thursday morning, with oil producers and mineral extractors under pressure as Rio Tinto shares fell 3.6% and Total shares fell 2.1%. Royal Dutch Shell shares fell 1.7%. It named Simon Henry as its new finance chief. On the plus side, Roche shares advanced 2.5% after detailing that it will pay $95 a share for the shares of Genentech that it doesn't already own. The French CAC-40 index fell 1.3% to 2,628.33, the German DAX 30 index lost 1% to 3,874.66 and the U.K. FTSE 100 index dropped 0.5% to 3,674.79.
