MW: leads insures down as financial sector drops again
The dollar lost further steam against major counterparts on Monday, after a survey of New York manufacturing showed conditions fell to a fresh record low in March. The dollar index, which measures the U.S. unit against a basket of six major currencies, stood at 86.60, compared with 87.45. The Empire State index fell 4 points in March to -38.2, a fresh record low, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York reported on Monday.
