RTRS: India gold demand ebbs after overnight pick-up

India gold demand abated on Thursday after a pick-up the previous day when when gold touched a low of $882.90 an ounce overseas, traders said.

"There was buying yesterday. I sold around 100 kgs of gold. It has turned quiet now," said Harshad Ajmera, proprietor of Kolkata-based wholesaler, JJ Gold House.

"Traders are unable to digest this price rise and are waiting for lower prices," said Ajmera, "they would be interested if prices tumble to $875-905."

A lot of weddings are scheduled from mid-April to May, which also marks the end of harvesting season. Farmers normally buy the yellow metal after the end of harvest.
