MW: Financials' slide deepens; Citi shares reverse course
Financial stocks slipped further in the red Thursday after a report said the number of people collecting state unemployment benefits jumped by 185,000 to a record seasonally adjusted 5.47 million in the week ending March 7. The Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund was down more than 5% in midday trade. Citigroup Inc. shares erased an earlier rally and were off more than 10% in recent action.
