The U.S. dollar rebounded in early morning Asian trade against the Japanese yen, trading at 97.83 yen. Earlier, the greenback dipped as low as 96.90 yen in North American trade on remarks by U.S. Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner that Washington would be open to China's call for a new global reserve currency. Geithner later clarified the remarks, saying the U.S. holds a "strong dollar" policy. The euro was trading around $1.3584, almost flat from late Wednesday in Asia, and the British pound was slightly higher at $1.4579.
