MW: U.S. stocks open higher; retailer Best Buy tops forecasts
U.S. stocks started higher on Thursday, furthering the prior session's gains, after retailer Best Buy Co. reported profits fell less than expected in the fourth quarter and mixed economic data left investors unfazed. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 71.21 points to 7,821.02. The S&P 500 Index added 8.65 points to 822.53, while the technology-laden Nasdaq Composite rose 21.42 points to 1,550.37.
