BL: Gold rises marginally; silver surges by Rs 300
 
NEW DELHI: Gold prices rose further by Rs 20 to Rs 15,350 per 10 gram in the national capital on Friday on increased buying by retailers and jewellers to meet the ongoing 'Navratra' festival demand. Silver also attracted brisk buying support from specula tors and industrial units and recorded a handsome gain of Rs 300 to Rs 22,200 a kg.

Marketmen said increased buying by retailers and jewellers to meet the ongoing 'Navratra' festival, an auspicious period in Hindu mythology for buying new jewellery, mainly pushed up gold prices. Standard gold and ornament remained in demand and added an other Rs 20 each to Rs 15,350 and Rs 15,200 per 10 gram, respectively.

However, sovereign, remained steady at Rs 12,400 per piece of eight gram. In a similar fashion, silver ready recovered sharply by Rs 300 to Rs 22,200 a kg and weekly-based delivery gained Rs 40 at Rs 22,400 a kg. Silver coins also gained Rs 100 to Rs 28, 400 for buying and Rs 28,500 for selling of 100 pieces on increased offtake by coins manufacturers. – PTI
