Copper futures have pared their losses on higher equities. "That helped prompt some short covering," says Stephen Platt, analyst with Archer Financial Services. But a stronger dollar and a backdrop of economic weakness continue to pressure the metal, he says. Comex May copper is down 1.5 cents at $1.8295 a pound. (MWH)
