Equities rose 3.5 per cent early on Thursday, tracking a broad rally across Asia, after positive US data fueled hopes the worst was behind for the world economy.
By 9:57 a.m., the 30-share BSE index was up 3.5 per cent at 10,251.68 points, with all stocks advancing. Energy giant Reliance Industries and lenders such as ICICI Bank led the gains.
The 50-share NSE index was up 3.5 per cent at 3,165.90.
